“The Church” in Flea Town USA has been a God-appointed “outreach” within Flea Town USA, Alexander Mills, NC for 5 years, originally coined “Powerhouse Ministries” (in which we did many outreaches for the community as), we have recently been called out of our spiritual slumber and called to walk into the destiny that God predestined us for. After 5 years of ministry in a completely different name and mission… you may wonder, “Why now?” Some may even ask us “Isn’t It too late?” Our response to this curiosity is outlined throughout the Biblical book of Zechariah. Zechariah is a book of redemption, restoration, and most importantly… the rebuilding of Jerusalem. We believe that these are also the three objectives of “The Church”… our Church.
Here at, “The Church”, our first mission we want to demonstrate to the world is Redemption. In Zechariah 1:3 it says, “Return to me, declares the Lord Almighty, and I will return to you” (Zech. 1:3 NIV). This scripture is a plea from God to His people, or to His Church, if you will, to return to an authentic relationship with him. Our views on the mainstream church and also one of the main reasons why the founding members of “The Church” pulled away from the mainstream church is that we believe they prize religion more than relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that “The Church” is inside of us and not 4 walls and a roof as suggested by the mainstream.
Here at, “The Church”, We have been shown new principles by God that requires us to rebuild His temple in a fresh way… just as God said in Zechariah 4:6, “not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit” (Zech. 4:6 NIV). It is not by man’s strength nor man’s religion that this Church will be rebuilt, but by HIS Spirit that this revolutionary church will be built.
It is our belief that the church of the past has had empty traditions and rules which do not reflect the Will of God. We believe that the new church that God is rebuilding is one filled with members that possess sincere motives. This Church we speak of reflects something better than restoration. Zechariah 7:5 states, “When you fasted and mourned in fifth and seventh months for the past 70 years, was it really for me that you fasted?” (Zech. 7:5 NIV). God is asking his children individually this question. He decides to deal with them on a personal level in this scripture by asking, “what was your motive?” “Was it out of tradition or was it a result of relationship?” We, “The Church”, believe that relationship should be the ultimate result of Church… which is why we incessantly ask all of our members to “Read the Word!” That is our charge to our parishioners to do something for YOUR relationship with Jesus. We can’t give you a relationship with Jesus… only you can do it for yourself. This is why we ask with fervor to come out of the empty redundant traditions of mainstream and come into an enriching, fulfilling walk with Christ.
Lastly, We at “The Church” have been given a charge taken from Zechariah 8:16&17, which says, “These are the things you are to do: Speak truth to each other, and render true and sound judgement in your courts; do not plot against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all of this, declares the Lord” (Zech. 8:16&17 NIV). These 3 things are the plumb line with which we will walk by in this new Church. Our Church deals firmly with the truth and does not back down from it. This is the charge to our church from the Lord…
